Good Alternative to the run-n-gun FPS games, pretty fun MP best TPS since SOCOM 2.

I just finished the campaign and have started on the MP.

he campaign was pretty fun but very easy and fairly short. If you are a fan of the older more tactical Rainbow 6/GR games, you probably wont really be impressed with GR:FS.

But if you are an old school playstation player and really liked the original SOCOM & SOCOM 2 this game is a must buy. The game play is the closest I've seen a game get to recapturing the fun that those old ps2 games brought when they were released back in the day, including the actual SOCOM releases on ps3.

The best part about GR:FS is the huge assortment of weapons and upgrades in MP. Unlike the latest CoD & BF3, the weapons in this game actually feel a bit more realistic, meaning you can actually tell the difference when using different weapons with different mods, like longer or shorter barrels as well as aim and accuracy with different grips and stocks.

The thing I like the most about this game is the MP, which is really fun because its primarily cover-based, and with voice chat is a lot more tactical than just running and gunning like in BF3 and MW3. No circle-strafing and bunny hopping, like I said it plays aa lot like the old SOCOM 2 game which was one of my all-time favorites. GR:FS also uses future tech to actually make sense of things like marking targets or revealing enemy locations, something that kind of didnt make a lot of sense are far as realism goes in BF3 & MW games. There are EMPs, surveillance devices, even taser type weapons which all effect the tactics in MP.

The other thing that this game brings is actual new game modes in MP, something that BF3 and MW3 desperately need. Theres an escort mode which is incredibly fun. There is also a guerilla mode which is aa co-op mode where you fend off waves of AI attackers.

All in all, if you are a big fan of the old GR games where you did a lot more micromanaging of your squad you will probably find GR:FS disappointing.

But if you are a fan of TPS games, this is probably the best one to be released in quite a while and is definitely worth picking up.
