A fantastic game - but surely worthy only of an 8

User Rating: 8 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PS4

I have to say I'm really enjoying this game. I have waited patiently for its release and now it is finally here, I am satisfied on many levels and largely disappointed on many other. The gameplay is far from solid. The combat is laughable compared to Assassin's Creed, the Batman Games, or Shadow of Mordor, I've heard people say BloodBorne too but have no personal experience. Try fighting next to trees, rocks, or crates. You will not be able to hit enemies while there is a low lying bench. You may try to roll, only to have your character moonwalk on the spot whilst being hit. Try manoeuvring your horse over a tight bridge. Try jumping into a boat - make sure you maintain the correct distance for the jump, you could easily end up in the water. Etc. To me a game that deserves a 9 or 10, is a solid game where many of these issues do not happen. This game technically falls far short of that deserved score for me. So why give it such a high score??

Yes, the characters are fantastic and I'm enjoying the story and the game in general. It is a good game. More worthy of an 8 I feel. Where is the perspective in the reviews?
