There are countless features (that were thought to be 'essential') that are missing!

Just to name a few: you cannot shape terrain, no cars available, no towns; just neighborhoods, no robbers, you can't interact with background households, no phones (except for mobile), no alarm clocks, fireplaces don't come with chimneys, etc, all plants are the same, lots of glitches, for example you can place rooftop stuff through your roof, you can't change camera angle, no babysitters, you can't make a pond, fixed size plots only, mostly 20x30 and only 2-4 available per city with 3 neighborhoods and a whole lot more.
