If you're a hard-core Sims 2 collector like me

User Rating: 7.1 | The Sims 2: Happy Holiday Stuff PC
Let's face it - EA/Maxis could have released a lot of this stuff (excuse the pun) with the original Sims 2 release, which now seems like ages and ages ago.

From a collectors point of view however, most of these "stuff" titles do have some nice, high-quality objects that do add some non-essential, niceties to the original gameplay.

It's therefore pretty difficult to write a review about a game that isn't really a game at all, but only a collection of items that enhance the original gameplay to a certain degree.

It's more a question of how hard-core you are about the Sims 2 universe and making sure that your collection is up to date, than anything else in my opinion. There are literally thousands of free Sims 2 objects and hacks available on hundreds of fan sites out there after all.

It's a Guitly Pleasure for me - pure and simple - end of discussion.

Gameplay:

The "stuff" included does tend to add a nice ambiance to the original gameplay, but nothing that's going to set the world on fire, except if your stockings over the fireplace catch fire of course!

Graphics:

Always cool and the quality is as one would expect from Maxis after all these years in the business.

Sound:

A few nice new soundtracks for those die-hard Sims 2 players that actually notice this kind of thing.

Value:

Hard to say. It's really a question of how much you are willing to spend to keep that collection of Sims 2 boxes in the cupboard up to date - as I mentioned before.

Who Should Buy It:

Anyone who enjoys new objects to add a bit of spice to their Sims 2 lives and doesn't mind spending a few bucks for the convenience of getting it all on a CD-ROM/DVD.

Who Shouldn't Bother:

Anyone who would rather spend a few hours browsing through all those thousands of objects available in cyberspace and download them for free, and doesn't care if they have any EA/Maxis original items in their collection or not.
