A fun relaxing game which grows on you eventually

User Rating: 8 | The Sims 2: Castaway DS
I have to admit, when I first played this game, I was slightly disappointed. It does have a bit of a slow start in terms of objectives - for example, the game gives you tips on everything from picking up sticks to lighting a fire, and this can get annoying. However, the game really does pick up after an hour or so. Firstly, the graphics are really up-to-scratch for a DS game; the various tropical environments really do look kind of lush and realistic. To add to the graphics, the various weather effects are cool as well - it can be rainy, sunny or cloudy, but none of this affects how fast your stats go down (Thank god, Too much realism would be a drag!)

The gameplay is basically typical sims fare- you keep an eye on your stats, eat, sleep and erm...use a bush for a toilet! (Heheh great idea) As the game progresses, you will also find some friends on your journey, such as a cook and a doctor. These people will give you errands, which kinda sucks, but you are also able to trade with them for snazzy new tools, not to mention they will help you in getting off the island.

Overall, if you are a fan of sims games or survival games, or if you just think this looks interesting and fun, definetely think of getting it! Once you get into it, you will uncover more and more things that will make you want to find out more. The graphics are really well done, and Full Fat has obviously put a lot of effort into making this an interesting and fun game.

P.S :- I think IGN were harsh for giving this game 7/10. I think it deserves at least 7.5, because it took the idea of lost in blue and made it a great game! JUST TO CLARIFY : this is definetely better than the japanese survival game Lost in Blue...trust me on that one...
