A Very Enjoyable game, Great for killing Time. Worth looking into if you enjoy Games like Ceasar.

After getting over the initial bug where it crashed after building a Coal Mine (It was time for a reformat anyway :P) I sat down to see what the game was all about. Finishing off the rest of the tutorials I decided I was ready for my Adventure into Single Player.

This is where things went a little off track. I started off by using what I was taught in the first few tutorials to start off a basic little town, I had no idea what my objective was though, but a quick scan of my toolbar quickly revealed that I needed to Locate a portal. "Ok, so how do I find this portal?" I thought to my self , I eventually worked out that to explore I could either send out a scout or build a lookout. Ok, so I can see more of the map - how do I get out there? That's when I remembered I could build a Military building to expand my borders. After I'd done all that, it was time to continue gathering resources until I could expand again - Until of course I reached the portal.

Basically The Settlers II: 10th Anniversary edition is a City Builder game based around the collection of resources - Forester Plants Trees, Lumber Jack counts down Trees, Sawmill saws logs, Sawwed Wood is used to build Buildings etc. - which are then used to further the greatness of your Civilization or Race. If you're looking for something with a good combat system, look elsewhere, I found the combat system in The Settlers II to be much like those in Ceasar and thought at times it could be slow, but Combat didn't appear to be the main objective of the game, creating a thriving city was.

If you're looking for a game that can keep people entertained for hours on end or something to occupy you on spare weekends than you should look at trying out The Settlers II, if you're looking for something with a little more fighting may I suggest Company of Heroes (WWII) or Dawn of War (Warhammer:40,000).
