The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap is easily one of the best portable Zelda games released. You'll find that it's fun puzzles, bosses, and vibrantly colored graphics will keep you entertainted for some time.

The story of Minish Cap takes place in the mystical land of Hyrule, where a festival is taking place in Hyrule Town. Princess Zelda comes to the home of Link and his grandfather, a blacksmith, to ask if Link would like to join her at the festival taking place in town. As the two go through the festival and eventually end up at the castle gates, Link witnesses something horrible: A mysterious sorcerer breaks the mystical blade that had been enshrined by the people of Hyrule ages ago and releases monsters onto the land of Hyrule, as well as casting a spell on Princess Zelda which leaves her petrified.

Distraught, the King of Hyrule chooses Link to seek out the help of the Picori, or 'Minish' as they are also referred to, to see if they can be of some help to curing Zelda of her curse (and also because only children can see the Picori/Minish). Along the way Link encounters a strange hat that goes by the name of 'Ezlo', together they journey through the many lands of Hyrule in search of the power to restore the blade he is given at the beginning and to see if there is a way to cure Princess Zelda of the curse cast upon her.

The game follows a typical "Restore the blade, save the princess and the kingdom" storyline but that shouldn't be something that turns you away from the game. The game itself stands well on it's own and still offers plenty of hours worth of exploration and fun as you progress.

In terms of difficulty the game is not terribly hard, so you'll most likely find yourself dying very little, or not at all. The enemies and bosses you encounter in the game are different and you actually enjoy getting to the end of a dungeon because bosses are unique and have their own strategy you'll need to follow in order to defeat them. The controls for the game are also very easy to learn and they flow very easily when moving from one activity to another.

The graphics of the game are perfect for what it is: a portable Zelda game. You won't find dingy colors, or things that don't look right in the game, everything is done perfectly and you'll find that the colorful graphics actually add a bit of extra fun to the game (or at least they did for me).

However, there is really only one downfall that can be said about the game but it's nothing that would be keep you from playing or enjoying it: The length of the game.

The game itself spans across a mere four dungeons, and if you're not doing sidequests (heart piece collecting, upgrading your arrows, bombs, etc.) then the game can seem like a complete letdown in terms of length. But the game packs in plenty of sidequests and extras that you won't be spending ALL your time just going through the main game. Introduced into the game is a new 'reward' system, known as Kinstone Fusions which will can cause chests to appear, portals, pieces of land leading to otherwise unreachable areas, items, rupees and the occasional 'special enemy' which, when destroyed, drops a large amount of money.

The "Kinstone Sidequest" itself should take up some of your time if you're planning on collecting every reward. Sometimes you'll want to write down where a chest, etc. appeared so you won't forget where you need to head to pick it up later. In regards to the heart pieces, you'll always gain one after each major boss fight at the end of a dungeon but there are certain pieces that cannot be obtained until you have actually done some kinstone fusions with the various people you meet in Hyrule and other locations.

So in the end if you enjoy collecting all the key items and having a "complete" file on Zelda, you won't have to worry about the length. Even then, it's a great game to pick up at your local gamestore and discover how fun it can be.

Minish cap is definitely a video game you'll want to pick up and play if you're looking for fun.
