Majora's Mask is one of the Greatest Games the Legend of Zelda has to offer!

User Rating: 10 | Zelda no Densetsu: Majora no Kamen (w/Memory Pack) N64
With all the amazing content within this game it seems impossible that it was made in a little over a year. One of the key aspects to Majora's Mask that I find amazing is that most of the main game happened outside of dungeons. Some may argue that this is apparent in other Zelda titles, but I do not agree. In order to progress the story in most other Zelda titles you have to go to a new dungeon, defeat it, and move on to the next one. In this game, however, you are gaining most of your items (a collection of which is larger than most, if not all, other Zelda titles due to the inclusion of masks) outside of dungeons. In fact, the only items you get in the dungeons are Bow and Arrow related. The use of only four dungeons to seem equivalent to the usual eight or so dungeons is amazing.
The inclusion of a time limit also makes the quest that much more urgent. You have to save Clock Town from the moon that is to crash in three days. This may seem like an annoyance at first to some (how can I do this in three days?), but you gain the power to travel back in time which resets everything back to the first day (don't worry, you get to keep your major items…but don't forget to deposit your money in the bank!). You can also speed up or slow down time to aid you in quests that revolve around specific times.
Because this is an older game I wanted to make this review short, so there won't be much more detail other than what makes the game great. The way the game is played is almost identical to Ocarina of Time, with some improvements. So the actual mechanics of the game is better than that masterpiece. Just because there are fewer dungeons does not mean that there is less to do, in fact some could argue that there is more to do. Also, everything you do is memorable, not just another task to gain another bottle or something. The puzzles are more than difficult enough to keep you occupied, and the time limit makes you that much more aware of how long you actually need to complete the puzzle. The story is amazing too. It really draws you into the game immediately and keeps you immersed throughout. All in all this is one of the best games one of the best franchises in video games has ever made.
