As a hardcore Riddick fan, I expected much more from this sequel.

I still consider Riddick - Escape from Butcher Bay one of the great games from the original Xbox. I never play games twice but I loved this game so much that I was very tempted to play it over.

Just a few minutes into the Dark Athena version I had mixed reactions. While I liked the sounds and graphics, I didn't like the fact, that the camera switches from first person to third person frequently, and that often it is rather hard to find out where to go next or what to do to advance. Without online walkthroughs I would have been stuck forever.

There was one point where I kept going the wrong way and then got stuck only to find out days later that there's another way to go. It just wasn't clear at all.

Also two of the boss killings were impossible without knowing the trick for it. Something that can be found online, but would have never been clear without it.

On a positive note: I found the maps to be interesting, challenging and fun to go through and there are enough health stations to avoid frustration. The stealth part is the most fun part - classical in Riddick.

The multiplayer is ok, but not great. One problem is that it takes way too many shots to kill someone, a problem that appears in Far Cry 2 and can be utterly frustrating for any gamer who is not hardcore.
The Pitch Black mode is unique but becomes very boring very fast.

This game could have been much better if the character would stay at first person at all times and with better map design, meaning better hints on where to go and where not to go.
