By Far The Best Fighting Game On The PS1

User Rating: 8.5 | Tekken 3 (PlayStation the Best) PS
This is the best fighting game, and probably one of the best games overall, on the PS1. It really did pave the way for further games in the Tekken series on PS2 and PS3. The 'Story Mode'(which I always believe is very strong within the Tekken series) is particularly good in this game. There is also the best selection of characters within the game, including Hwaorang, who uses Tae-Kwan-Do and is a good all rounder, along with [Forrest] Law, but other favourites of mine include Eddy, who uses Capoeira, Xiaoyu (sp?) and, for no apparent reason, Bear/Panda. There are several variant characters and outfits which can be found on completion of the game by pressing the 'Start' button at the character seleciton menus. Further addtions to the game are the Tekken Force, Tekken Ball (basically oversized beachball with fighting moves - you have to play it to understand really) and Theatre Mode, which you can also use to see the endings of other Tekken games. It is arguably the best game in the series, with a good mix of story and gameplay (Tekken Tag probably has the best gameplay due to its wide selection of characters), but obviously does not have the best graphics. A good game to start off the Tekken series with, but deceasingly popular due to the wider availabilty of PS2 and PS3 games within the series.
