Good fun with friends!

I purchased this game went it came out in 1991. I was excited since by that time i'd probably wasted hundreds of $$ in the Arcade TMNT game. Also, the first TMNT game for the NES was kinda of a letdown for me. It was too hard (stupid damn level ugh!!!)... plus with this one, you could actually play coop with a friend!

The graphics tried to mimic the arcade version and the NES did the best it could do with it's limited color palette. Overall they were very good but sometimes there would be glitches when too much stuff was going on the screen.

The music was "Okay"... the sounds effects was a lot better. The gameplay was very limited. Unlike the actual arcade game you couldn't pull combos on your enemies. You would hit them once.. they would back away in pain.. if you were quick enough you could hit them again or they would reply. I used the powerful swing attack (attack+jump button at the same time) all the time since you could hit multiple enemies and knocking them down, thus avoiding a counter-attack. The real fun is playing with one of your friends. The game was very repetitive but for some reason you would always comeback and play with your buddies. The added levels not found in the arcade was quite nice as well.

The game's difficulty was just right. It was a lot easier than the arcade (the arcade wanted you to pump coins in it anyway, right?)

In conclusion, this game was worth it's money back in the day. I had a blast wasting hours upon hours with my buddies with this game.
