Syphon Filter is a good action game but by no means perfect.

Syphon Filter is a game that has you playing the role of an agent working for the U.S. government. You get help from Lian who gives you intellegence and other vital information helpful for your mission. The story is pretty well integrated into the game and is displayed pretty well in movies. Where this game goes wrong is its controls which made it more difficult and frustrating than it should have been. Switching weapons takes way too long even though there's a few shortcuts for this and manual aim is just difficult too. Once you start playing the later levels these problems really start to surface as manual aim becomes more important and so does switching weapons. Anyway I found Metal Gear Solid to be much better although it too is not without its flaws. Syphon Filter though is still a classic in the action game genre because it basically showed how most things should work. It's nice, for example that the camera works good in it and that the auto aim functions good (although there's no easy way to switch targets). However it also shows to have needed improvement.
If you really want a good action game I would recommend Goldeneye 64.
