Super Mario : 3D Land is another one of Nintendo's classic Mario action reboots. Is this a bad thing? Not at all.

Though there may be a repetitive and just plain simple storyline, the game-play more than makes up for it, as you jump, flutter, spin, jump, collect coins, and jump through this adventure.

Super Mario : 3D Land has the usual storyline, Bowser kidnaps princess Peach for the 30,000th time, and Mario is off through 8 worlds to try to stop him. I will say this : though Mario has a very repetitive story, Nintendo somehow succeeds in making the games worthy of making Mario a billion-dollar series.

Well...the plot didn't take too long, so we'll jump right into the game-play. Mario has to fight through about 4 or 5 levels per world, with each level containing 3 star coins and ending by jumping onto a flagpole. There are certain levels that can only be unlocked by having a certain amount of star coins. Something about "worthiness" or something...?

Each level is chock-full of baddies to fight, and there are plenty of special items to help you in defeating them. Among these items is the tanooki leaf, which is returning from the classic 1990 "Super Mario Bros. 3" game, and a boomerang suit, which resembles the awesomeness of the hammer suit from the game I just mentioned. Of course, the classic fire flower, mushroom, and star-man. So everyone is accounted for.

At the end of each world is the boss stage. You'll either 'venture through a Bowser doomship or castle. At the end of these stages, you'll either face some koopa on steroids, or some Bowser wanna-be. None of these stages prove to be of much challenge.

Come to think of it, this game in general isn't much of a challenge...at all. The main story isn't too long, but there IS a special story line where you can unlock Luigi. And who doesn't love Luigi?

...anyone?

OK, well, the point is, this is a great spin-off of classic Mario action, and is ...near essential to every 3DS library.

...And if you don't HAVE a 3DS... well, you're out of luck.
