OLD SCHOOL IS ALWAYS COOL!

User Rating: 8.9 | Super Dragon Ball Z PS2
This is the first REAL DBZ fighting game that I've played since the SNES days. The mix of DBZ and SF mechanics blend in really well. It's nice to go back to the roots of arcade fighting which seems to be a lost art today. Gamers have been spoiled by the Budokai and Tenkaichi series. They think a combo is pressing two buttons repeatedly a million times. I find it hard to believe that gamers nowadays can't even read and perform simple directional motions such as QCF, HCF, or the dragon punch motion, which seems to be their base argument as to why the game sucks for them. This Dragon Ball game goes OLD SCHOOL which is always cool. Well if you can't read/perform arcade motions then this DBZ will teach you how to do them. It's back to the good ol' days with this fighter where you need skill, precise timing, and creativity to perform devastating combos. It becomes even more fun when playing against an equally skilled player where you can definitely play mind games as to where the basic fundamentals of arcade fighting come to play. The longest combos may always not be the most effective against a human opponent. This is where the Character Customization comes in. You can build your character to be defensive, offensive, combo crazy, or well balanced, it's up to your style of play...and your opponent.
