Super C is a solid platformer, but isn't as good as other games in the series and it hasn't aged very well.

User Rating: 6.5 | Super Contra NES
Highs: Decent controls and gameplay, good graphics, pretty much the same as the first.

Lows: Can get very boring at times, harder than the original, has not aged well, stage design isn't very good (Top-down stages, I pity you).

Verdict: It won't disappoint fans, but it's nowhere near as good as other games in the series.

After the success of the first Contra on the NES, Konami decided to give it another go. They brought us Super C, the sequel to the original Contra released in 1990 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. In Super C, you play as Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, as they are on a mission to stop a hoard of aliens who have taken over a military base. Playing Super C is very similar to it's predecessor, so you should get used to the controls easily. The weapons from the past game in the series has been brought over to this game too. The graphics are also good for an NES game too as everything is pretty much very detailed and colorful. Super C is pretty much the same game as the original as the controls, enemies, and weapons are all there still. There are problems however. This game isn't very memorable compared to the original, as it can get pretty boring after a while. It's also a much harder game than the original Contra but nowhere near as hard as Hard Corps on the Genesis. The stage design has taken a step back, as it has those annoying top-down stages. Overall, that dosen't mean Super C is a bad game. It's still a fairly decent game and still an NES game worth owning but like most NES games, it really has not aged very well. Is it still worth playing? Yes it is, as longtime fans will find this to be another satisfying entry in the series.
