Streets of Rage 2 manages to be a great beat-'em-up and a fine co-op game after all these years.

The Virtual Console has numerous beat-'em-up games, but none come close to Streets of Rage 2 in value and fun. Right off the bat you'll notice that SoR2 features co-op multiplayer. Playing through this 8 chapter game is fun, and that fun doubles with two people playing. You can even hit each other during the heat of battle, which can be pretty damn funny. You'll choose from four different characters, each with their own attributes and moves. Already said, there are 8 (lengthy) chapters to play through, getting tougher as you move along.

The graphics are solid and the music is fantastic. You'll just love the rocking tunes in this game as you're beating up baddies. The sounds that the badguys make, however, isn't so hot. Almost every enemy you kill will make a VERY strange grunting noise when they die. It's creepy, really.

Keeping it short and sweet, SoR2 is an excellent basher that you'll have a blast playing through multiple times. The only downside is maybe that you'll have a really tough time getting through the last couple of levels. But if you're ready, put your skills to the test with this awesome action game.
