Streets of Rage is one of the best genesis games you’ll ever see. Newer beat 'em up games like fighting force dont even compete. The graphics are great! Large and detailed sprites, great backgrounds very smooth animation and varied bad guys make streets of rage one of the best looking genesis games you’ll find. Sound is the best on genesis. No question. The music is fantastic with some great sound and varied tunes. Sound effects suit their action perfectly But the music is the best thing. Compared to some of the terrible genesis music on its limited chip SoR2 is head and shoulders above everything. The gameplay is classic old school beat em up action. You play as one of four very different charatics Axel, Blaze, Skate or Max. Each play totally differently Max is a huge ultra powerful wrestler blaze is a lithe agile judo girl Axel is your basic martial arts cop and skate is a weak teen on roller skates with a strange fighting style. Each is capable of a lot of moves, you can perform standard combos, front and rear grapple moves, diving attacks jumping attacks back attacks and a special attack. There are many types of enemy and they range from common losers who just walk up and punch you weakly and wait to get smashed up, freaky looking beasts with ten-inch claws who somersault and cut you up, mohawk guys, tough as nails barmen, scary women with electro whips and countless other freaks and bosses to beat up on. Beating them up is fun with the amount of moves you have an the wide range of moves and tactics bad guys have. Its not an easy game either on higher difficulty levels there aren’t just more and tougher bad guys they are far more aggressive and smart. Good luck beating mania mode. There is a lot of replay in Streets of Rage 2 The many difficulty levels and the fun of killing people make you want to go back to it. All up this is a genesis game you must own or at least play. Fin
