Spongebob Squarepants: Supersponge Even for a hardcore fan, even for the original playstation, this game was awful. Just looking at the screenshots on the back of the game makes me feel terrible. Alright, well, in the world of Spongebob Squarepants: Supersponge, you go through level after level of awful graphics and a bad version of super mario. The premise of the game is pretty simple. You are helping the krusty krab, or you are focusing on mini-tasks, but no real story. It is a level-by-level game, in which you basically just jump your wayacross. Graphics: This is the part that will turn everyone away from the game first off. The graphics are rediculous, even for the playstation. Of course, making a cartoon into a game is never easy, but games like Looney Tunes on the PS1 pull off flawlessly. The main complaint with this game as far as graphics, is how low the quality of them are. Not only is it 2D, but it is not even good quality 2D. It is all cartoon drawings of course, but the backgrounds, enemies, characters, and everything are simply sloppily done. Even for the PS1, this was an awful graphically done game. Graphics: Not even worthy of a two. 1/10 Gameplay: The whole point of spongebob games, if anything, are to provide a fun feeling for them. A game which provides humor and fun gameplay. Unfortunately, this game has neither. It does not feel like you are remotely in Bikini Bottom, let alone in an ocean. The backgrounds are sloppy, which takes away the feeling of spongy and fun gameplay. The game itself, graphics aside, will get extremely annoying. You have an awful system of mario. In a mario game, if you fall down into a bottomless pit or down a hole or down anything with no floor, you basically will die. It is the same in this game, only the graphics are so awful, the buttons and jumping don't line up at all, it is so hard not to get game overs. Even if you time it right, the game does not respond correctly to the timing of the buttons you press, causing you to consistently die. It is hard enough as well with the fact that spongebob is so badly drawn and designed, that sometimes when jumping over a ledge and landing on the other side, you will just fall off, do too the horribly designed invisible frame around spongebob, which allows you to not fall through things. Gameplay: Awful. 1/10 if not 0/10. Replay Value: You can hardly get through a couple levels rather than finish the game. The only few features are occasional few bonus levels, and a very stupid and pointless reward system. The bonus levels consist of just jumping up on random things and collecting objects, much like the coins you would collect in Mario. The reward system is getting cartoony virtual items that proove pointless in the long run of the game basically. That is the only few features for replay, but you won't play long enough to see them. Replay Value: 1.5/10 Music: The very little music and sounds in this game fits its awful graphics and quality. They are terrible and repetitive and have very little variety. Music: 2/10 Bottom Line: This game feels like you could have created a better one on a game maker and improved it, and feels like you are listening to an awful pop song 100 times. The only time you would play this game is if you had absolutely nothing else to do, were stranded on a desert island, and were being paid to do so. You know that this is a bad game when one of the most devoted fans to spongebob is telling you its terrible. My Rating: 1/10
