A low-voltage sequel

User Rating: 5 | Spider-Man 2: Enter: Electro PS

When a guy like Electro is the main villain; you know that it ain't gonna be anything memorable (Try to remember how TASM2 went). The sequel to Neversoft's Spider-Man game comes off as a somewhat pale imitation; as it just doesn’t bring the high voltage here (corny pun is corny). Sure, it retains some of the things that made SM2000 fun; like the light-hearted humor, combat, and Stan Lee’s narration. EE also throws some better puzzle-solving and a couple of new moves into the mix; but it really isn’t enough to feel like a good sequel, let alone hide the major issues of the game under a cover of likability and familiarity.

The camera is so much worse this time; as it’s even more unresponsive than how the controls feel. You’ll be facing the wrong direction frequently when you really need to see what the hell you’re trying to do. The music is as bland and generic as a roll of paper towels; and so is Enter Electro’s story. The performance is weaker and the framerate goes down sometimes, and the What-If mode is almost bereft of good jokes unless giant bananas cause you to lose your breath from laughing so hard…

Final Score: 51/100 (Iron Medal)
