Nothing hasn't changed...but that isn't a bad thing.

User Rating: 9 | Sonic the Hedgehog 2 PS3
Sonic the hedgehog is an iconic video game character and his debut on the Sega Genesis is one of the greatest video games of all time. In response to that, there were several other games released (and still more games releasing) with the brand name, despite the several changes, in both genre, graphics, and overall theme...which has had both good and bad results. This game is Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which is the direct sequel to the original game, and is also acclaimed like it's predecessor, which also introduces one of the well known characters of the series, Miles "Tails" Prower, helping Sonic stop Doctor Ivo Robotnik (usually known as "Doctor Eggman" now...) from taking over the world (as usual). After all of these years, this game is still a blast to play, and has had little to no changes to the core game-play.

Story: 7 (Average story, but still cheerful and fun for anybody playing it.)
Graphics: 9 (I'm referring to the rating when the game was released, it still looks great now, but it will look kind of bad when not played in HD.)
Music: 7 (Still the same, still fine, not extraordinary, but nothing bad.)
Controls: 7 (Fine controls that take very little buttons from the DualShock controller, the controls might feel a bit stiff or out of place, but that is only a minor problem.)
Sound: 8.5 (Those who played the original and loved will still love hearing it.)

The story is pretty simple...like BEFORE. Sonic and his best friend Tails team up to stop Dr. Robotnik from taking over the world using his latest weapon of mass destruction, the "Death Egg", but he needs the power of the "Chaos Emeralds", which give Sonic and Tails the need to collect them before he does, and the story clearly follows throughout the game until the duo save the day. There is nothing much to say about the story, as it is tolerable and follows well into the game as a whole, yet it is still a great theme throughout the series...

The game-play is almost exactly like the original (concerning both "Sonic the Hedgehog" and the original "Sonic the Hedgehog 2"), as the game-play is unchanged, in fact is sort of emulated on the PlayStation 3, which is called the "Sega Vintage Collection", as it has it's own menu (which is shared by several other classic games made for the Sega Genesis and Dreamcast), and it plays the game fine, with absolutely no problems. The game also includes a small assortment of trophies that can be earned throughout the game and added to the player's trophy collection, which is not a bad add-on to keep the player from playing a little longer. If there was a problem to be had with this game, it is very minor, but the controls can feel out of place, or that they feel weak, stiff, and or placed without any care. This isn't a problem, as the game can be played on several other types of controllers, one shouldn't have a problem playing the game.

Personally, buying this is a two-way road option. You can buy this classic at a cheap price and play with a few trophies to unlock, while having this classic...OR you can buy previous titles that have this game (along with several other titles together) for a relatively cheap price...OR hunt for the original cartridge and play it the classic way....OR if you already have this game on any type of platform, then I suggest you ignore this, as there is nothing that really gives you any reason to buy this again...BUT either way, this is the still one of the best games anyone has (or even will) play.
