SONIC... need I say more?

User Rating: 9.5 | Sonic Mega Collection Plus (Greatest Hits) PS2
Mega Drive - no it's not a Massive 1000 GB hard drive. Master System - no it's not a Dog Trainer. These were the best system of the late 80's early 90's, before everything went 32 bit, 64 bit then 128.

Although Nintendo had the addictive Mario Bros., with there massive Drug References (Magic Mushrooms - need I say more :o)) Sega had Sonic! The Super Fast, Super Cool, Mega Powerful Blue hedgehog, that has proven to last the test of time. Better than some of the latest Mario Games. The gameplay was simple... collect Rings, smash 'badnicks', collect Emeralds - which have been the basis of all the old school Sonic Games, and most importantly KICK ROBOTNIK's (not eggman) ASS!

Sonic Mega Collection Plus is the congrgation of the best titles from the best systems and an few more added titles for extra gameplay greatness! Using the power of the PS2 and the ergonomics of the PS2 Controller (PS2 owner, so I am going to be bias in this review as I haven't played in on xbox or GC) have truly enhanced this game, but kept the basic and the great 15bit sound and graphics alive.

Also and added bonus with this game is it's ability to harness the lock in system (possibly the first type of 'expansion pack' in the world at the time) for Sonic 3 & Knuckles; Sonic 2 & Knuckles and, which came to a shock to me Sonic 1 & Knuckles or 'Blue Sphere Game'. Also with the game comes Ristar, Comix Zone, The Ooze, Sonic Game Gear titles (missing a couple aka Sonic 2 for Game Gear was a surprising emission) and some games that were not released globally (Sonic Triple Trouble wasn't released in Australia).

Personally I give this game the highest regard to excellence, and doesn't belong in my game collection, but in a museum for people in the future to play and enjoy.

For near 14 years I have been playing this game on all the systems it was on... Master System; Game Gear; Mega Drive/Genesis; PC (Emulation Software; PS2. Like I said before I haven't played it on Xbox or GameCube.

Long Live the Blue Hedgehog. Proof that even the simplest things in life are the best!
