The first 3D Sonic game that I fell head over heels in love with. If you haven't played it, it's worth checkin' out!!

Sonic has always been a beloved character in the video game world. When he came out in '91 he found a loyal fan base. Since then, however, that fan base has swayed a bit and many have wanted a game that really captured the speed of the original four games that were featured on the Sega Genesis (1, 2, 3 and Sonic + Knuckles).

Is this game it? Well sort of.

It has pretty dizzying speeds but not like during the Genesis era. I think some people just generally think Sonic lost his touch when he went 3D. This game in my opinion, does not prove that though. It had nice enough graphics for its time, the speed is there, addictive gameplay (mostly), lots of variety in missions and play, tons of cool characters (new and old) and the 2-player mode is just awesome!

The one player mode is interesting and will keep you coming back just to get a better grade (F, D, C, B + A are the possibilities). However, this game really, really shines in the multi-player region. You can battle in robots (which isn't that fun to me), race each other (extremely fun), treasure hunt (the funnest to me) and race in cars (again, not that fun but hey, it's variety!).

You can also raise Chao's, which are little, cuddly buddies with raindrop heads who debuted in the first Sonic Adventure. You can spoil them and treat them good, or you can (sorry, have to say it) beat them up and treat them bad. This will shape their personalities. However, it doesn't guarantee that the Chao will be the way you want it. Sometimes they do their own thing.

There is more to say about this wonderful game, but I just don't have enough time. Besides, I touched on the basics. I'm sure most of you have tried this game either on the Dreamcast or GameCube. But if you haven't, I highly advise you do. This game gave me and my buddies over 70 hours of gameplay together and nearly changed my life!!

While it has a few glaring flaws, I would still love to own it so I could play the disc on my Wii so I could enjoy it and let others who come by enjoy its awesomeness. :)

+ Fun soundtrack (overall)
+ Lots of characters
+ Variety in gameplay
+ Tons of hours to put into it
+ 2-player mode is awesome
+ High replay-ability
+ Every character has powers they obtain through a certain number of rings during on-foot races or treasure hunt!
+ Varied levels

- Occasionally glitchy
- Camera angles can be a nuisance at times
- Unforgiving difficulty once you get far
