I only found out about Soldat through a sheer mishap. I installed the game from one of my PC Gaming World CDs and didnt bother with it. I eventually found it on my computer and played it. I loved it. It didnt waste all this time on BS graphics and trying to wow everyone with blood and guts all over the place. Instead, it does what it is there to do. The gameplay, as I have found out, can get a little annoying in single player. I have yet to be able to connect to any servers to play online, so thats screwed. I just goof off in the maps by myself and learn the layouts so when I do get DSL I can get online and frag everyone. But I ahvent been playing it much lately (thanks Counter-Strike: Source!) so Ive forgotten how the maps are. The graphics, like I said, are not there to wow everyone. They are there to ensure maximum playability online, so people with 56ks (like me) wont lag every two seconds. The create a character could go just a little bit deeper, but who cares? The sound is.... well... turn on a music player and pop in a CD, you dont want to pay attention to the sound. The value will last long enough for you until you get taken into a mental home for becoming too addicted. I know, the sentence made no sense. I like the game, its not something you have to pay $50 just to play. And being connected to the internet isnt required. You dont have to have a $120 video card to play it either. I just wish a few more maps were added along with an mp3 player, maybe better create-a-character. But other than that, this game pwns.
