Skate 2, at first glance is an entertaining, average skating game. But is it?

User Rating: 6.5 | Skate 2 PS3
When I first put Skate 2 in my PS3, I wasn't too sure what to expect. On one hand, I thought it could be an alright skating game, which I hadn't played in a while. On the other hand, how much substance can a skating game really have?

The other hand was right.

The premise of Skate 2 is simple. Skate around, do some goals, win some contests, and reel in the money. How could that not be fun?

Well, after a few hours of the story mode, I found myself bored, seeing how many ways I could brutally injure my skater. Speaking of the skaters, it really is impossible to create-a-skater that doesn't look like they don't belong in the special Olympics.

So I changed gears and head on over to the Freeskate. This kept my attention for much longer. I spent some time going from skate park to skate park, getting air and performing stunts, but soon, I lost my focus and found myself skating headfirst into traffic, attacking people, and holding up the traffic of the city.

So, to make a review simple, I don't like this game. It just bored me. It may just be me, but it didn't have to much substance to it. It was flashy and all, but it's a skating game, not a skate headfirst into traffic game. I give it 6.5, for fun, but not for long.
