A PSP classic...

Many series include a Zero in the series ( Resident Evil for example), but these games most likely fail or just confuse the plot line more... Silent Hill 0 is not one of those... although it does not give too much away about the city or infamous cult, it gave a great background for the characters in the first game and it gives much explication to the flaurose (the small pyramid used in the first game) in fact the flaurose is almost the main force driving the plot... that and Travis Gradey's dark history with Silent Hill. Of course all of your favorite characters are back (Alessa!) and some familiar places too. And that was the part that amazed me, the Hospital looked very similar to the one in the original Silent Hill, and so too did the streets around the area. Still the graphic abilities of the PSP were put to good use and made this game look amazing for a handheld... Silent Hill 0 made replaying the game actually fun, with the accolades that rewarded you with costumes or overpowered weapons for finishing some task or beating the game in a very short period of time. The combat was less clunky than the original, but still a bit clunky, and this is almost bad because this game almost felt centered towards action than puzzles. Yes, there are many puzzles in the game, only a few puzzles consist of any basics used in the original games (the puzzles are almost too simple) and if you want to see what I mean try the piano puzzle in the first game.... that will take you a while! Another downside is that it is a very short game with a very small map, but the accolades help make the game a little longer, but that doesn't help the fact that to get the accolades you are replaying the same game over and over and over again so it does get a little repetitive. The one other bad thing about this game was the breakable weapons... although this made sense some of the weapons had very unreasonable break points, for example the hammer (a sledge hammer that is very common in the game) would break after killing two nurse things (about three hits each), and the knife breaks at the same point, so its almost like every thing has the same breakpoint (except for throwable melee weapons like the tv and toaster oven). The music is awesome (and some of the songs are on my mp3 player) and added a great effect to the spookiness of the game, and finally the story line pulled me into countless hours that I spent to find out what would happen, and the biggest one was the boss the Butcher! Although he had a short battle (yay revolvers!) the time that you pursue this guy really makes up a bulk of the game. So in conclusion this game is a PSP classic!
