Fan of the series or not, this is one game every psp owner must have!

I'll admit it, I'm a big fan of the silent hill series. I've played every one of the games multiple times, seen the movie mulitple times and counted down the days until Origins finally arrived on shelves. Now that it has, I can gladly say I'm nowhere near disappointed.
The first thing I noticed was the graphics. Holy Crap!! The BEST on the system to date hands down. And do you remember that blur effect you would get on games like GTA: Vice City Stories? Nowhere to be found here, this baby runs at a blazing 60 frames per second.
This prequel to the original Silent Hill dosen't change much to the old recipe, just a few touches here and there. These slight additions although sometimes a little dissapointing, add variety to the gameplay. The use of mirrors to traverse between the dark and light versions of silent hill is interesting, although it takes away from the suspense a little by having that much more control. The breakable weapons system is pretty cool, although it can sometimes be annoying when your sleghammer dies after just a few hits. Of course smashing a tv over an undead nurse is just bad*ss enough to make up for it.
Origins does an outstanding job of keeping alive that old, familiar sense of tension, suspense and terror found in the previous installments over the years. If walking down a rust-covered, bloody hallway in the pitch black armed with nothing but a lead pipe and being stalked by ghostly footsteps isn't scary enough for you then you'll probably be bored by this game.
The combat is, once again, crappy but it's always been that way and dosen't really take away from the game. Perhaps Silent Hill 5 will be able to fix that.
All in all this is an excellent game, especially with the lights out and headphones on. All the great stuff about Silent Hill is here, in portable form and should not be missed by anyone, fan or not.
