Travis, the one and only truck driver you could wish to hold hands with in Silent Hill.

I have not played through all the Silent Hill games, yet, but I find Origins to be rather good, alas somewhat short.

It all starts when Travis step out from his truck to see if the person he almost hit is OK, but to his suprise, the person is gone. A little girl appears, but only visible in the mirror of his truck. Curiosity drives him to run up that road only to find a burning house. Welcome to Silent Hill Travis!

Just who is Travis, that is what you're going to find out in the game. As you progress in the game, you learn twisted things about his past and what's going on in that crazy town. Everyone he meets seem to know his name, he bumps alot into Lisa, a nurse. She's accusing Travis for being mean for absolutely no reason.

The enviroment is as always unpleasant and well made. There are two different worlds in this Silent Hill by going through the mirrors. I thought the normal Silent Hill was scary enough, the other one is even worse! Monsters that inhabits the worlds appears to have more intelligence than the previous Silent Hills. They will follow and run after you in town, and they don't get any slower. Travis, being a truckdriver probably doesn't require alot of stamina, he rundt out of breath rather fast and slows down alot. Then it's smart to pack out that trusty energy drink or grab something to smack down the freaks with!

There is alot of weapons in the game, with the usual game-magic, Travis is able to carry everything he finds inside his... pants...? Almost anything from kitchen knives, plants, portable TVs, meathooks, lamps and typewriters, that's only some of the things you can find to use as a self-defence tool! Or just punch them in their faces, if they have a face! The monsters are able to "hold" you while attacking, but the attacks can be avoided by hitting the correct buttons as they appear on the bottom of the screen. If you don't get it correctly, Travis will be in pain or suffer an instant death!

Aside from throwing TVs and poking some flesh with a screwdriver, you have to solve some puzzles to make progress in the game. The puzzles are easy, maybe too easy. Gamers should not really have a hard time figuring out the answers, which is actually a good thing, but it isn't much of a challange. Where did the difficulty of the riddles go?

You are to collect pieces made of small red pyramids and it appears that little girl in the beginning is just using Travis to obtain them, well, what for? Bosses are basically the same, run, dodge and hit. Which get quite boring, inluding creative killing wouldn't hurt next time! I just have to say that the last boss was a dissapointment, what the heck...?

There are three different ending in this game. One good, one bad and one hilariously cute!

I like the game and grew fond of Travis, what a man! He's punching those disguting monsters with his fists and is acting very heroic. After completing the game, you get a truckload of extra stuff. I just love Konami's sense of humour!

Silent Hill: Origins is a short, but enjoyable game, not really as scary like the previous games as it should be. Try it.
