Silent Hill 3 is not only the best game in the series, but is also a contender for one of the best survival horror games

User Rating: 9.5 | Silent Hill 3 PS2
Silent Hill 3 is the third part in the Silent Hill series which started in 1999, it has seen a well developed sequel in Silent Hill 2, but where the series truly shines is in Silent Hill 3.

Graphics:
The graphics for this game are just utterly astounding. We are now in the era of PS3s and 360s but even now this game's graphics amaze me. There's a close attention to detail throughout the game whether you're in the normal world, or in the horrifying Otherworld. The character models are some of the best that I've seen on the PS2, if not THE best, it even surpasses Resident Evil 4's graphics even having came out 2 years prior to RE4.

Sound:
The sound for this game is just plain and simply fantastic! Whether it's the creepy sounds that you will hear roaming areas such as the Mall or the Amusement Park, or even the still quiet that will keep your nerves more on end than sounds themselves. The soundtrack for this game is magnificent as well, from the opening theme to the end, that soundtrack is one of the best in games.

Gameplay:
The gameplay for this game is quite solid, it may feel a little clunky at times, but that's the staple of all survival horror games. Being able to move while attacking is great, it lends more to the combat, although it does make things easier. The flashlight is back, and it can be your greatest ally as well as your enemy, seeing as how it draws the monsters towards you. You will find the lead pipe, a given for any Silent Hill game, and you will do battle with that, and a wide variety of guns and melee weapons.

Story:
I'm going to make this short because I wouldn't want to spoil the story for anyone. All I can say is that it is very gripping, at times it leaves you wondering who to trust. As in all Silent Hill fashion there are 3 endings, though your first playthrough will automatically give you the Good ending

All in all this is a fantastic game that any fan of survival horror should not miss out on. The graphics are great, the music is very well done, the story will keep you on the edge of your seat, and there is quite a bit of replayability to this game.
