Mediocre

Well...that was mediocre, soulless and disappointing. The characters were uninteresting, falling behind the charm of SMT IV: Apocalypse and even SMT IV, the plot and alignment system managed to set the franchise back to before what SMT Nocturne had accomplished. The world is uninteresting and compelling, not even interesting to look at as it is just a desert wasteland. The graphics are solid for the level that JRPGs like this are aspiring to. The game brings a few game mechanics that are new or at least recycled with essence fusion and magatsuhi skills and removed smirk, but I couldn't get excited about any of that. I didn't even enjoy the soundtrack which is usually a strong point in Atlus games. If you enjoy roundbased RPGs and lookimg for something to grind through, this is still okay but you would still be better off with it's three predecessors. This game did not add anything worthwhile to the series and feels phoned in.
