Not much common with the awesome Pen&Paper system it is based on. An attempt to make fast cash.

Well, i've got to admit, that i have mixed feelings about this game. I like Shadowrun very much and its an amazing Pen&Paper system. Basically you can be whoever you want. You can build nearly anything: Neo from The Matrix? No problem! Wolverine? Well, cant be completely unkillable, but close to it. Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat? Well, you shouldnt turn into a dragon in publicity, but why not. Some things like time-traveling are impossible, but most others are.

Now we have Shadowrun Returns. It stripped away nearly all of it. Whats left are some guns, some buffs and some magic, that was reduced to pew-pew-pew, sparky-sparky-spark. The world is full of flaws and mistakes, like wooden crates or trees growing in a city that was under extremely aggressive acid rain for decades. Grown-up-words are replaced by "frag" or "drek" to imitate some sort of slang. Everything is linear and limited. Major rules of the game are getting violated, ignored or twisted.

It is basically like if you would play chess and your opponent would flip his tower and declare that you are check-mate. Why? Well, its a game, right? You have the right to be creative and unpredictable.

So yes. If i would have to describe this game in short, i would call it linear, disappointing and not finished yet or rushed. There are parts of this game i would love to see in a proper version of it, but there are so many flaws, that i cant bring myself to like it as i would like to like it...
