A really good fighter for the SNES

User Rating: 8.4 | Samurai Spirits SNES
This is one of my favorite old-school fighters, and the SNES version is really not a bad one and plays pretty well.

Ok, right off the bat I need to say that your characters are a little on the small side, and that your screen cannot zoom like the arcade version. But those things aside, the game plays very well.

Samurai Shodown is the first fighting game that incorporated weapons on your fighter. Oh, yes, I should also say that the music is not as good as the arcade, all shorting comings of the SNES cart.

The background were very well done, with lots of color. Choose from a lot of different fighters with different strengths and weaknesses, just like all one-on-one fighting games.

Hits are divided up between light, medium and hard punches or kicks. There are a lot of special moves for each character to learn and master.

Some of the characters even use animals as a part of their attack. Some special moves are very hard to pull off, and make their character hard to use and want to play with.

Music for this game is ok, not great. The original soundtrack is outstanding, but the SNES cart just did not have the capacity to hold the music in place. But it makes due.

If you are still into SNES games, and are looking for a pretty good fighting game, then get this one if you can find it.

The challenge on this game is pretty good, also.
