Gamespots low rating and review don't stand the test of time. This game does.
Resident Evil 2 is a wonderful game. You can also obtain this game used for a relatively inexpensive price. If you do not own a Dreamcast, this is the best version to play actually. I don't own anything but a Wii and love the fact that this wonderful game was ported to the Gamecube years back. Gamespot might of had a point at the time (the port didn't justify the price of a new game), but their rating did not withstand the test of time.
This is an excellent game that you can find for a bargain. If you don't own a Dreamcast
and don't own a copy of this game, then you should buy this version.
If you own a Dreamcast, buy that version.
If you own another version of it, you won't be getting anything more out of this version.
The N64 version has a slew of stuff that no other version has, for reference to hardcore fans and collectors. The N64 version does not have updated graphics... in fact, even as the largest N64 cart ever made (weighing in at 64Mb), massive amounts of compression were used to fit the game in.
