Undead Nightmare - astonishing add-on to a deserving game of the year in RDR...

User Rating: 8 | Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Pack X360
If you have love for video games, then playing each year's game of the year is probably a habit, rather than a "one-off event"...Red Dead Redemption was a deserving game of the year last year, so when Undead Nightmare DLC came out i knew i was going to spend some more quality time with this franchise. Just a quick suggestion here: if you have not played RDR yet, then play it before Undead Nightmare. I am saying this because the DLC can be played as a separate game indeed, but you would have a better idea about the characters and locations, if you have spent some time with RDR first. Off we go..

To be honest, at first, i was quite skeptical. Zombies, in the Wild West? C'mon...I have watched several George Romero' movies but never quite imagined how that sort of zombie idea would work. Well, when you add a separate story, re-visiting old friends and once again taking the reigns over the one and only John Marston, we are in for some more greatness.

Story
UN (for shorter) delivers a completely different story (than RDR), involving "walking dead" and the reason why they have decided to inhabit West Alexandria, New Austin and Mexico. Well, Marston gets involved because of his unconditional love towards his family and the urge to "turn them normal again"Of course, saying anything more than that would spoil the game. Suffice it to say, it IS in fact an engaging entry back into the series. 8/10

Graphics
Well, as with RDR's graphics, we get pretty much as good as we can get. Same as RDR. 1010

Sound/Voice Acting
Same actors return to bring the computer game into life with outstanding voice acting and choice of musical score. Same as RDR. 10/10

Gameplay
Gameplay is very similar to the original game. There is no money or currency involved, so the most important "loot" you would be interested in gathering is ammo. Each city in the game world has been overrun with zombies so saving a different city would provide John with one of his signature weapons. There are also several side missions, along with the main quest. Typically, you would be doing mission for characters already familiar from the main game. There are also different CHALLENGES, similar to the ones in RDR, but some that are quite unique like "Break the 4 Horses of the Apocalypse". 8.5/10

Overall
Simple really - for a Red Dead Redemption fan this is a very worthy DLC. Not only the quality of the content, but the amount of content as well. You can spend 10-15 hours doing everything that the creators meant to be done. Overall, a worthy and smart investment! 8/10
