Open ended action / rpg, pretty graphics, crappy controls, crappy save game, crappy inventory
I'm not one for desert/mesa atmosphere mind you I prefer forests and such but the landscapes look realistic. Downside is that its very hard to see anything unless I'm sitting directly in front of the TV. I can't see the animals most of the time and theres no option to zoom unless you have a rifle. MANY MANY times I'll shoot an animal and can't find the corpse to skin. Why isn't there an option to go 3rd person or change view sizes ?
Which leads me to my next complaint. The target reticule is a miniscule white dot. Theres no option to change it. I can't even tell where the damn thing is at times when in a fight with mutiple bad guys its horrible.
Which leads to another complaint. Only being able to save game at your camp or at a room you've rented. I spent 40 minutes exploring gathering pelts, meat and fighting random spawned bad guys and suddenly discover that water means insta death which is utterly ridiculous. Guess what no save I lost everything.
You're pretty much forced to camp to save or lose whatever progress you had. Everytime you camp it fast forwards to a later time.
The controls are horrible. Sometimes you accidentally mount the wrong persons horse and commit a crime which makes people attack. You can't converse with anyone in the game unless its quest related theres no dialogue options it just automatically plays through with no choices of your own.
One of the most frustrating aspects are bounty hunter missions. You take out the target then attempt returning to town to hand it in. Along the way gang members repeatedly catch up and attack. You can't outrun them and trying to fight on a horse is totally frustrating. The controls are horrible. Dismount and you get insta killed if they ride over you.
If I look at a gun vendor theres no option to indicate what I already own unless I leave the vendor and look at my stuff. Even then the vendor has a rifle which is named different from mine but when I buy it the rifle is the same. Theres no resell option.
I've barely got into this game and its already pissing me off everytime I turn the thing on. How did this get a 9.5 ?
