It's another enjoyable Ratchet and Clank game but it can be beaten in only 2 hours.
Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty is an enjoyable game but it's extremely short(if you know how to solve all the puzzles and where to go,you can beat the game in a little over 2 hours).
For people who don't know,the Ratchet and Clank games combine 3D platforming and third person shooter gameplay.The gameplay feels smooth and the controls are very responsive.I like how some gameplay sections test your platforming skills(even though the platforming sections aren't as challenging as those of a Super Mario game,they're still creative and some of them are fast paced such as when you go sliding across rails and they test your reflexes because if you react too slowly you can fail off a rail or fail to attach your rope/whip thing to those spheres and will fall to your death).I like how you can use your rope/whip thing to latch onto little spheres that are in between platforms and swing yourself from platform to platform.
Other gameplay sections involve shootouts with enemies and the Ratchet and Clank games have a unique style of third person shooter gameplay where Ratchet can leap from side to side to dodge enemy weaponfire and he can target and shoot enemies in third person view.Just like in a proper shooting game,Ratchet can run out of ammo and he has a great variety of weapons and he can buy new weapons and his weapons automatically get upgraded when he uses them a lot.
However,for much of the game,Ratchet won't have his guns with him but he can melee attack enemies and Ratchet is very acrobatic and can jump staight up high or leap from side to side easily to avoid their attacks.
You have a main weapon named a combuster which can fire many shots and it's easy to find ammo for the combuster.There's other more powerful weapons such as a weapon that makes tornadoes,nano swarmers,a weapon that locks onto targets and fires missles at them(which is helpful when the enemies are shooting at you from far away because your combuster has limited range),grenades and a weapon named an alpha cannonwhich fires extremely powerful shots and can inflict a lot of damage but the alpha cannon can only fire very few shots and needs to be charged up before Ratchet shoots it.
I don't know what else to say about the gameplay except it's fun but like I've mentioned above,the game is very short and can be beaten in 2 hours,which is why I didn't want to buy the game but I downloaded it for free after SONY gave PSN account holders the free games.
The story for R&C QFB is set after R&C Tools of Destruction and before R&C A Crack in Time.It's hard to explain what the story is about without giving away spoilers but I'll say it involves curses and ghosts and pirates.
The graphics for the game are lovely,they look smooth and have a nice artstyle.I like the way the tropical island looks and how you can see beautiful light blue colorered water surrounding the island and how the island has NPC's such as a mayor and other people walking around it who you can interact with.The game has a very pirate theme because you'll be travelling over pirate ships,but they're special types of pirate ships that can fly and many of the enemies will be robots(the game mixes the pirate theme and sci fi nicely)and there's caves to travel through.There's beautiful cutscenes that show beautiful,realistic ocean water effects.
The puzzles in the game have good variety such as using clues to guess the right order for ingredients to a drink to make a pirate happy so he will let you progress or number order puzzles or puzzles where you need to make the right shapes out of shadows or using light in certain ways to stop these flying enemies from swarming you and harming you in the dark.
As you would expect,the voice acting is very pirate influenced and it's charming.I don't remember much about the music.
Overall,the game is fun and very playable and nice looking but because the game can be beaten in 2 hours I personally wouldn't want to pay more than 15$ for it.
