True Diablo fans will be dissapointed with Diablo 3. Blizzard does not even employ the same people who worked on the first two Diablo titles. Diablo 3 was crafted specifically to suck as much money out of its players as possible with little regard for actually making a game which players would enjoy.

And I am not an EA fanboy. I actually dislike EA greatly. Blizzard has lost my respect with what they did to Diablo 3, I will not purchase another product from blizzard until they apologize to their customers and stop their blatently greedy business practices.

Diablo 3 is terrible. The always online requirement and itemization to make the real money auction house a money-maker for blizzard killed the game. All my friends I know who purchased the game on release day are now saying they greatly regret purchasing it. I strongly suggest people stay away from Diablo 3.

I've played all the way through resident evil 6. Sure the story and voice acting are good. The visuals are varied and entertaining enough. But the gameplay .. . its just bad.

Too many quick time events (honestly I HATE quick time events in any game) But this one expects you to waggle your control sticks or press buttons at superhuman speeds with regularity. If you don't have carpal tunnel when you start, you will be much closer to having it when you finish.

Also the problems with scripted sequences causing auto-death for no good reason. Simply because you were not standing or moving precisely where the game wanted you to stand. Becomes very frustrating when you die in the same place 5 or 6 times in a row. Imo, the game deserves a low score for these issues.

This review is pretty much spot-on. Having played the game almost all the way through, reading this review has put my feelings about the game into words. Good story, bad execution.

QTE is one of the worst things to be foisted on the gaming public. I have yet to Ever enjoy a QTE sequence in any game. There are always better ways to do these sorts of sequences which do not have to result in random prompted button pressing. Take boss fights for example. Dragon's Dogma has shown us the proper way to do boss battles without resorting to QTE. If you haven't played that yet, you should go pick up a copy. It is worth the time just for that.

@ch40sdr0n3 That option is LAN support. You could play the old diablo 2 with friends over LAN anytime you wanted. Even if battlenet happened to be down.

The way it was setup, the player had the ability to choose to play on Battlenet (in which case they had to use the character stored on the Battlenet servers) or the player could choose to play using Offline mode or LAN mode, thereby using the character stored on their personal computers. The two character types were always separate. This worked fine and without issues all the way up to the present day.

The problems happened when Blizzard decided to change a system which was working wonderfully with Diablo 3. They made it always online required and got rid of LAN or any sort of Offline mode. I could have understood if they had done this with a MMO. But Diablo is NOT an MMO. The world is created for you specifically when you start your game, and vanishes when you stop it.

As I said, go play Diablo 2 and learn what we are talking about. Then perhaps you will understand why these things were not needed in Diablo 3, and why this new setup was a very bad move on Blizzards part.

@MirkoS77 I agree with you mirko. This sort of thing will destroy gaming. I refuse to pay for any game a company puts out which includes these sorts of things. Always online, and removal of LAN support, were two of the worst mistakes Blizzard could have made with this title - and I will not support decisions like this by purchasing products which include them.

@ch40sdr0n3 They could have easily set it up like Diablo 2 was set up. Have Battlenet only characters stored on battlenet servers. And leave offline/lan mode characters on the players own computers. This model worked fine for Diablo 2. I see no reason why it could not have also worked for 3.

If you have not played Diablo 2, I suggest you go give it a try. It is still a fun game with a very large player base.

Unfortunately this review does not mention what happens once players reach inferno mode (the hardest mode in the game). Over at the blizzard forums the community is talking about how Diablo 3 is badly hemorrhaging players. Evidently this game has many more problems which are not apparent until you reach the highest levels. Due to these issues the vast majority of Diablo 3 players seem to agree that Diablo 2 is a much better game. And many are even going back to it and ditching the third game entirely.

I am personally glad I did not purchase this title. The always online drm is a terribly abusive way for a company like blizzard to treat their customers. I have lost respect for blizzard as a company and will not spend any money on their titles until they stop their abusive customer policies.

Many people live in areas where a reliable internet connection is not available.
