@MrRyubusa @xiiraveniix @094Gengar "Cut developers some slack, and try to understand"? Sounds like he wants sympathy then. Do you even know what that word means? Please look it up.

You even admit that he IS complaining to the consumers, yet justify it by saying that he works harder than most other people do, and then claim that it is not meant as some judgement on other people. How can you say he works harder than other people do without judging the work that other people do in comparison? The term "hard" is relative to "easy", so to say that I work "hard" is saying that the work I do is "harder" than the work most other people do (which would be considered "average"). Does that sound like a judgement on everyone else's work ethic to you? He is putting himself up on a pedestal so we can admire him because "wow, he works so hard". Gimme a break.

You make him sound very egocentric and self-absorbed, which is exactly the impression I got from his comments as well. I think you just buy into his bullshit and are there to kiss him all better, when there are other people in the world much more deserving of your sympathy, believe me. They need it; he doesn't.

@MrRyubusa @xiiraveniix He IS asking for sympathy if he is trying to relate how hard he works to the people who play his games. That's what sympathy is: acknowledgement and concern of another person's emotional hardships. Isn't that what he wants by telling us these things, about how hard he works, and how players shouldn't take him or his games for granted?

I'm sure Wii U owners expect games like SSB to come out for the system: they take that for granted. It is an expectation that when one buys a Nintendo system, that eventually Nintendo is going to release some fucking games for it, and Nintendo and Sakurai are not doing anything special by releasing them; it's their job and their company and livelihood depends on it.

Talking about taking things for granted implies the threat of taking things away, as if he is saying "what would happen if we didn't make these games?", as if they think customers should be more thankful. It's a business and Nintendo would perish if they did not release these games, so they are not doing anyone any favours except for themselves.

Could you imagine the response if Microsoft or Sony or Apple told its customers that "you shouldn't take us for granted, or we just might not release anymore products"?

@Articuno76 C'mon, talking about almost being "worked to death" is complaining about your work, and exaggerating beyond belief I might add (strangely enough, you seem to think he is actually serious). And he is whining because he isn't trying to change the situation. If it was really that bad, he'd want to quit.

@hiphops_savior Your thanks for your job is your paycheck.

What's more, why isn't he thanking the consumers who keep buying his games? Instead he expects their sympathy as if he has some cross to bear for them.

@Korvus85 Yeah, they keep pumping out the excuses faster than the games.

@AbsoluteSorrow @MetaMods I find it funny that the people coming to defend this Sakurai guy are people who also have experience in programming and game development, which just enhances the whole egocentric "I work so much harder than you" attitude. You programmers are such an elite bunch we should all be thanking you for working so hard. Get off your high horse and understand that a lot of people do work hard, and for long hours; they just don't feel a need to shout it out to the world and act like they're special.

@eaterofsouls2 @SKErwin Since when does a HD re-release of a 10 year old game classify as "game design". There's no design phase, It's just a replication. I'm sure it took work to make, but not as much as say... a new Zelda game. Now that would take some game design.

@manocanada Yeah. Let's all write to Sakurai and tell him. I'm sure he'd love to hear all about it. Actually might be a good idea. It would shut him up and make him think twice about sharing his sob stories.
