@darksouls: Alright, let's look back at the games Squeenix released from 2010 (the year they started to go south) to 2016. I only list their well known franchises as their spinoff-games and portable ones are too many to count (and they have a lot of crap-games there), besides it's your big franchise games that are important, if they suck you'll lose credibility as a company:
-FF XIII: A mediocre (if not bad) game that tarnished the quality that Final Fantasy games were known for. This game started the "travesty of a track record" I'm about to list here.
-Front Mission Evolved: An even worse game that tarnished the Front Mission series by turning it into a bad shooter.
-Star Ocean: The Last Hope: A mediocre (if not bad) entry in the Star Ocean franchise.
-Final Fantast XIII-2: Another mediocre follow-up to a mediocre game.
-Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy: Perhaps this was the best of the XIII games but not a great game by any stretch.
-Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness: Crap.
Now let's see their good major releases:
-Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn: Haven't played but I'll assume it's good based on critical reception.
-Final Fantasy XV: Haven't played but I'll assume it's good for arguments sake.
...
Besides their bad track record of games they also caused annoyance because of their bad PC ports:
-FFVII released with inferior audio to the PSX version and no official controller support
-FFVIII released with inferior audio to the PSX version.
-Android versions of FF V and VI ported to PC with touchscreen interface left untouched....
-FF XIII ported to PC with no optimization whatsoever...it doesn't run well.
-FFXIII-2 ported to PC in even worse condition than XIII.
So yes, SQUENIX has definitely dropped the ball and 2-3 good FF games won't change that fact.
That's cool, I mean, as if FF:s reputation could hit any more rock bottom. Throw in Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj while you're at it and release it on Halloween next year and you might make some sense at least.
