Actually our men and women stationed overseas with little to no regular internet access was one of the first things I thought of when the XBone's online requirement was announced. While I don't have first hand experience in the military one of my best friends since childhood has been in the army since 1999. From listening to him I understand how important it is for our soldiers to have small comforts and entertainments to alleviate stress and bolster morale.
Hardly unnecessary. It made the point quite well - actions have consequences. Nico chose to live an extremely violent life. He murdered for money and he was driven by a near blind need for revenge. His actions ultimately cost the life of someone dear to him.
What is it with these people assuming that violence and meaningful narratives can't go together? Indeed, they frequently have throughout the history of storytelling. I wonder what kind of meaningful narratives a free-to-play robot racer will have.
