The individual gamespot game forums do the same as they are mirrored from Gamefaq to the Gamespot game pages. So, if you have a discussion about a specific game in it's specific forum and the thread is not kept bumped, it will be auto deleted.

The individual Gamespot game forums are mirrored with Gamefaq and have threads automatically deleted when discussions are not constantly bumped. So, if you have a discussion about a specific game in it's specific forum and the thread is not kept bumped, it will be auto deleted.

The point of the site is not to upset people, it's to be a good place to get information on games. Therefore I suggest terminating the auto delete of threads or limiting it only to the most necessary forums;

1) If a forum does not have many posts, what's the point of deleting the few it does have? That's not going to save any space, or make things better organized, it's just going to make people angry when they return to a discussion only to find all the posts gone. Further, it's going to discourage people from participating and ultimately from visiting the site.

2) By deleting threads that don't get posted in, it encourages people to spam or bump threads just to keep them alive. So this policy encourages the opposite of organization, it causes people to create dozens of unnecessary posts, with no content.

3) If gamespot/gamefaq want people to participate in their websites for more advertising dollars, they are not doing a good job by limiting or deleting discussion in game forums. Empty game forums give the appearance that the site is deserted, so less people will be likely to bookmark or return - they will go elsewhere to discuss games in a place where there is more activity or where they know their discussions will not be deleted automatically.
