I spent a hilarious evening watching an argument about whether to use the new edition #5 rules of tabletop Dungeons & Dragons in their basement or stick with the familiar to the DM disintegrating books of the far more complex classic edition #2. The whining to change with the times went on for hours and was as funny as the TV show Community:
I don't understand your reasoning. I have no friends either, but I play multiplayer more than single player because I find the emphasis on storytelling restricts player agency - what is known as 'ludonarrative dissonance'. I'm quite happy to play Halo 3 with random strangers on my team and then play against them in the next match as I know what they are likely to do from past experience.
I'll admit that I probably wouldn't have hated Destiny so much if I had been able to try out the social shooter aspects. Spending three hours taking down the Spider Tank boss by means of the starting weapon with the cracked gunsight and having no one around to assist or revive me was a pretty lonely experience, but I guess anything is better with a couple of mates and if I did have some to spend an evening with I would take them down the pub because I feel like an alchy going in there by myself.
