Unless you see some specific system seller game in the launch window I'd wait until Holiday 2014. It takes the devs a while to get traction and you won't have to worry about that 6 month post Christmas drought every system seems to go through.
@bluefox755 To be fair, I'm one of those people who like the system but was waiting. I'm sure there's more like me. I told my fiance that
"Eventually I know they'll get my money because the Nintendo franchises I WANT are coming, but I figure I'll wait until I can buy them with the system. No sense buying it to sit and wait, I'll buy the system and a few game I can play immediately."
@gilldominic Though that was true last year, there were zero PS4 and XBone games to compete with. Now you have
BF4 Madden FIFA NBAs Dead Rising or Killzone (Major AAA first party release) Forza or DriveClub (Next-gen driving game)
Competing against:
Mario,
Pikimin,
Donkey Kong
Zelda
Wii U Party
Wii Fit U
Wonderful 101
and the rest of your games listed are scheduled for Wii U as well.
They also have the added "value proposition" that it's $300 with a game vs $460 and $560 (with a game) and it's backwords compatible with wii software AND hardware so the 100 million people who own Wiimotes don't need to buy new controllers. The Wii U is also the only "next gen" system that still has Free online play.
So say what you will about which line up you like better, but this year they're at least competitive.
@realshooter305 @Stebsis The Last of US was excellent (frankly any Naughty Dog title is) but the Zelda series is consistantly excellent, and I would still take OoT over Last of Us.
He's right. Nintendo has a stronger "launch lineup" this fall than the competition, it's a shame they launched last year.
Mario + Zelda + DK + Pikimin 3 + Wii U Party and Wii Fit U ARE a good base to build from and beat what Sony and MS have announced for 2013. If they can put some more Tent post games throughout 2014 (not just Mario Kart and Smash Bros) then they might (finally) get some momentum.
