Here the part that I disagree with is the one with facial animations, when Hl2 was released at that time. I can understand it did very good with facial animations but if you compare it now to some games like Devil May cry 3,4. The Last Of Us and the Uncharted 4 and probably few other games then you will realize that animations in HL2 simply not good enough in terms of current technology.
And the other part is "How lowly expectations have fallen. A squalid life of mediocrity conditioned as accepted normality."
If you actually play more games rather than playing direct popular games like COD or battlefield then yeah. But seriously there are many other FPS which are far ahead then half life games in terms of gameplay and technical stuff. Put off your nostalgia glasses.
The William Wallace to anonymous to Donald trump was cheesy and corny though. It also did not get the point across. Like Donald Trump is not known all over the world for good stuff or even bad stuff. He is the current US president that is the thing that people(outside US) probably know about him. And were you trying to imply that Trump is a bad or good president? I mean he is still in the office. We should probably post about his overall leadership after his presidency like we did with Kennedy, Lincoln,Roosevelt,Jefferson etc.
What? CD Projekt Red literally owns gog.com which is the only authentic drm free website which is more consumer friendly than steam. How is CD Projekt Red annoying? They have done consumer friendly stuff countless times. Even though they can technically be as greedy as they want to.
Witcher 3 was very good. The only problem was that the combat was not as responsive or fast like Bloodborne. But still it was decent. Animations were satisfactory too. It still had less bugs than any fallout games or even Stalker games. I loved fallout New vegas and found Stalker games very interesting but seriously if you even take out the combat of Witcher 3 and consider it"just" an rpg with only choices and dialogues. It still would be a very solid game. It still can stand alone as a game like The Walking dead or something and even then people would praise it.
The game is polished. Your computer might not be good considering that you encountered many bugs or unpolished stuff because in my system the bugs were rare. I did not encounter any game breaking bugs. Also The soundtrack is amazing too.
I agree on control scheme part. It is not very intuitive but I got used to it.
The expansions of Witcher 3 were also jaw dropping. The expansion literally has approximately 40 hours of meaningful stuff. Even hearts of stone had 19 hours of stuff. The story in blood and wine was also amazing.
I can understand you did not like Witcher 3 , but saying CD Projekt Red is annoying is an ignorant and probably dishonest claim.
You did not even consider expanding on animations,graphics,even ragdoll physics or just general amount of content in such scale rpg with active action combat.
"Poor" animations is just a useless label. Like poor compared to what? Fallout? Stalker? Elder Scrolls? Or did you just compared it to specifically action oriented games like Bloodborne or dark souls which have very simple and low scale rpg elements. And even animations in dark souls and bloodborne could be janky,rigid some rare times. Btw a professional animator on youtube called "PlayFrame" considered animations in witcher 3 to be pretty good. Although I can agree that sword unsheathing animation is a little immersion breaking.
I am sorry but this is really an awful review. Or awful opinion I should say.
I can write more. But I do not want to if you just consider me a "fanboy" at this point. But to be honest, if games should be criticized for being lazy or awful then reviews should also be criticized for being lazy or awful. That is why I thought of analyzing your review and stating my opinion on your review.
