It's not *personal* computer, unless built for your own specifics needs & demands... And no pre-built system will ever match 100% *your* needs.

That's why I build. I find it fun & entertaining, also.

Oh but I am fine with it. I keep gaming with XP just because Vista crashed me often while doin that. I sincerely hope that Crysis will work fine on Vista 64 :D

[QUOTE="tomascazzi"]I wouldn't upgrade to Vista 32 for now, I'd try a cheaper solution like Linux Ubuntu if you feel you need another OS. Gaming won't work with Linux, tough.Nitrous2O

That's probably a pretty good idea. Stick to XP for now, but when are ready for Vista, move to the 64-bit version. I haven't had any problems running 64-bit, it runs 32-bit apps/games, better security, doesn't have the ~3GB ram limitation of 32-bit, games like Crysis will have enhanced, better performing, 64-bit versions, etc.

The differences in performance between 32-bit and 64-bit for 32-bit apps/games is negligible. You'll find Vista is what will reduce your performance. However, hopefully that changes soon, and tbh, I don't find the performance differences between XP/Vista anything to worry about.

I agree absolutely ;)

i would suggest u stick with vista 32 cuz there happen to be some driver probs with 64... in addition do games truly support 64 bit ? there would be no point in upgrading to 64 if they didnt ammusk

No I don't think games truly support 64 bit.

As for drivers, everything ran fine for me from 3 months but yeah, lately in july I had to rollback drivers more than once. 64bit is a work in progress but yet I feel is running smoothly and could be an asset for the future. What does Vista 32 give you more than XP? A better look? If you have to change, my personal idea is to get something that could boost up your overall performances (including stability) even if only in the future.

Here's my personal experience as far as I have both 32 and 64bit Vista (yeah I know, I'm crazy, no need to tell me that:oops:)

I run x64 Vista on my high-end desktop, in dual-boot with dear ol'XP SP2. Well, I have to admit that performance and stability of 64bit Vista are pretty good, tough it sucks a lot of RAM (mostly 30% constant RAM usage in idle status - i have 2 gigs) but you shouldn't have probs with 4 gigs... And internet navigation looks faster and safer, too. It works great even with SL client forced to maximum graphics settings (crashed my old PC with XP).

Gaming. Well, ermmm... OK gaming is impossible for me with Vista 64. PES6, Stalker, Oblivion just to mention some, kept crashing and crashing. No one of them was Vista "certified" tough...

Vista 32. I have it on my laptop (fully loaded with Intel E6600, 2Gb ram 800Mhz and a nice nVidia M-GTS 8600 with 256Mb).

Games works fine with the 32bit version, tough performance is kept down by Vista ram-sucking processes. My advice, keep dear ol'XP for gaming and set up a dual with Vista 64 if you only need a stable OS for MS applications like office and/or researches/navigation on the internet. I wouldn't upgrade to Vista 32 for now, I'd try a cheaper solution like Linux Ubuntu if you feel you need another OS. Gaming won't work with Linux, tough.

Btw, I read a post somewhere that tells that Vista 32 could not manage more than 3,7gigs of ram, too. Better check it out before taking any step!

:)[QUOTE="Macktruck6666"]This is easy. Being a computer guy, I mess around with my computer all the time. If something goes bad, i replace the part. Usually the part is under a 4 year warantee. Can you say that about the consoles. No. Who feels confortable taking their console apart and trying to fix it. Defintely not mewhtmntgamer

I absolutely agree!

:Di could not have said it better myself. i spent years building gamers before i ever got into playing on them. now my wife cant keep me off. the other nice thing about PC gaming is if your computer is not good enough, save some cash and buy the part you need. if your console is not good enough, your screwed. besides, that list of games?? sha-wing!8)
