You're too early. Wait until the next sequence (or 2...)...

It's the most frustrating part of the game. The ambient music in the Ezio games (Revelations especially, I feel) was brilliant - so moving, context-building and emotional. Running around with silence for hours isn't only alienating, it makes the game boring and tonally numbing. Nowhere has its own character because of the lack of music. Completely baffling decision...
I'm about half-way through and I'm pretty disappointed with it, too.
1) Graphics: sure it looks amazing, but a lot of edges constantly flicker - especially when moving the camera. Then there's the frame rate drop in cities when you're running around. Urch. Then there's the numerous glitches: animals vanishing into walls, guards' weapons floating in the air, lots of pop-up etc.
2) The game feels unfinished. Assassin missions just kinda start with no pre-amble, then you kill some guy innocently wandering around on the map, then the assassination contract is over: no story, no explanation, no challenge etc. Likewise the letter delivery: there're no cut-scenes or dialogue surrounding them. You press 'o' to deliver a letter, the screen flashes white... and that's it??
3) Combat too easy - chaining kills together used to be at least kinda tricky, but I can chain kill 15+ guards with (literally) my eyes closed.
4) The interface. OH GOD THE INTERFACE. The crafting/Artisan/convoy system is so poorly explained and confusing to look at that I've had to resort to online guides to tell me what the hell is going on. The game DOESN'T TELL YOU that to level up Artisans you have to wait until you enter specific memory sequences and missions become available. I spend more time navigating confusing menus that actually playing the game, it feels.
5) I feel that the free-running in trees has been a bit missold: you can only run in VERY pre-determined tree-top routes, and only certain (visually different) trees are climbable: big shame - I was expecting more freedom.
6) Conor is boring
7) Upgrading Conor's equipment (pouches etc) isn't explained in the game, it feels like it's deliberately hidden/burried in the crafting system which, as I've said above, is confusing as hell.
8) NO AMBIENT MUSIC!!!! This is the absolute game-killer for me. I loved the music in previous AC games: emotive, moving, and very evocative of place: wandering around Rome or Venice or Constantinople was a joy because the music was so beautiful and inspiring. Spending an hour running around in ACIII with nothing but footsteps and bird songs feels oddly oppressive: in silence actually gives me a headache after a while.
9) Free running in cities is much harder than previous AC games: the buildings are so spaced apart and low-level that I find it VERY difficult to get any kind of 'flow' going.
10) If you become VERY notorious, you may as well quit and re-load, as the constant Red Coats around every corner chasing you in huge numbers is just impossible to manage. I don't like spending 20+ mins trying to become anonymous, only to be seen through a wall again by some guard.
Urch *walks off ranting*...
I don't get your point about him having a tattoo. Do you mean it makes his biased in some way?
Surely if KVO is a big fan of the series, then he's more likely to be extra discerning, extra probing and extra demanding? In my experience, its hardcore fans who're most critical of the things they love - most able to be honest about it.
If he'd given the game 10/10, then I'd (kinda) understand your concerns - but as thing's stand, I think we got a very honest, very well-informed review from someone who clearly knows a lot about the series. Which, in my opinion, can only be a good thing...
Or you could try, you know, reading a book. I wouldn't think you could learn very much from a 2 hour movie...
THERE WERE NO AMERICANS (apart from Natives) at this time: only Brits who wanted to stay British, and those who wanted independence from Brittain.
I would like more indoors stuff. Would be cool if you could enter all of the buildings you run ontop of.
What?!?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It's music like 'Ezio's Family' and Roman Countryside that just made these games for me. Such a big, big part of it

Well, the thing is...
The war was British vs. British anyway: those Brits who wanted to stay part of the British Empire, and those who wanted an independent America. So, technically, during the war, there was no such thing as a American as we define it today.
So...er...this whole argument is kinda moot, as both sides were *technically* British at the time of the war....
So whichever side Connor is on, he's fighting both for AND against British people: either the british who wanted to remain ruled by the British isles, or the British who wanted to schism from the UK and become Amerca....
