Not sure which one to go for, i've read that there have been quite a few problems with the msi version so i'm leaning towards gigabyte, but just wanted some external input

Soundtrack and story are awesome, true about the gameplay not having much depth or substance but i wouldn't as far as to say it's like an interactive film. Personally i'd recommend it, you won't come away from it wishing you'd never gone near it i can promose that, just might not love it as much as some people.

A video of it happening:

Sorry for the unbelievably bad quality, I only had my phone to record with.

Sometimes the gpu fans make loads of noise although not this time.

despite doing a gpu test with MSI combustor and found no errors it doesnt exclude faulty vram. I had a gtx 460 that would run hours upon hours with msi kombustor but when i was playing a game that was heavy on Vram such as Stalker COP with all settings max it would give exactly what you are describing ( orange and pusple stripes ). Sometimes it would say driver stoped responding and windows were restarting nvidia drivers after 30-40 seconds while other times i had to hard resetadamosmaki

is there any way to test the vram personally? Because i don't think they'll look into it unless it goes wrong when they test it but all they'll do is run a burn in program.

Thanks

It just crashes ? No errors or any other information?

Bebi_vegeta
The screen either goes just black or purple and orange stripes down it, sound stops working. The pc stays on and needs to be manually restarted. I thought it might be to do with load because it only happens with games that look really good (e.g witcher 2) but i've run burn in tests fine. Sometimes i'll get an error report if i go into reliability history after reboot, says 'livekernelevent', can't remember the exact but it's the standard ones for graphics hardware error.

So memtest didn't find any errors with RAM. The only i can think of is to just ring scan and get bullish with them.

[QUOTE="nilzg"]Are you sure everything else is alright? Maybe you've got a faulty RAM stick (when I bought this computer I had the same thing, at first I also thought it was my gpu but it was 1 of the 2 ram sticks) There is a program to check RAM but I honestly forgot what it was called..

Well it happened with my old ram and my new ram, so not sure what the chances of having faulty ram and then buying new ram which is also faulty are. But i'll run a test just to make sure.

So for the past 4 months i've been upgrading my pc, but ever since i got a new gfx card i've had problems (black/purple screens and have to hard reset pc) when playing games. I sent it back for an RMA (scan.co.uk), while it was away i bought new motherboard, cpu and RAM. Scan get back to me and say they've tested it and found no fault so I reasoned that maybe it was an issue with my motherboard or something else, and if i didn't take it back they would have just got rid of it.

However I've tried 3 or 4 different games, sleeping dogs, witcher 2, hard reset, and each time my pc crashes after about 10-15 mins. The thing it only happens when the game is graphically intensive, but i've run MSI kombustor xtreme burn in for an hour with no issue and heaven also.

I've tried the newest and the oldest driverrs to no effect and now don't know what to do, if i send it back they'll just say it's fine, even though it clearly isn't.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Indie Royale's new bundle is out if anyone is interested. I also already owned Chime so I have an extra key for it if anyone wants.
