@lmaocarrots The funny thing is there's still a common misconception that 360 is the system with more exclusives. But aside from Halo and Gears, where are the other exclusives?
@dreamfist11 I don't really see the eye toy/Wii comparison. I think if anything you can argue that the Kinect is a ripoff of the eye toy. But if you think Nintendo is gimmicky, then the gaming industry really is S&*% out of luck, because no one else is trying to do new things.
@xSagez I guess the joke went over your head. But to answer your question: Because someone doesn't see the logic of buying a system and then paying regular fees just to access software features that are free everywhere else.
Wow, they didn't hesitate to start biting off Nintendo. Probably the only difference will be that this controller won't work without an xbl gold account lol.
@oldschoolvandal @BludshedX @sciafb First and foremost, you gained my respect at Atari lol. I'm an old school gamer too! (started with playing BurgerTime on Intellivision at like 3years old lol).
You have very valid points, but I still feel much of the Nintendo hate is unwarranted, especially from the so called "hardcore" (exception being that while I agree that the graphics debate is fruitless, it does chap my ass a tiny bit that I couldn't play Twilight Princess in full HD). I feel the focusing on casual audience debate is a bit without merit when it comes to Nintendo. It's not like Mario was a hardcore FPS before the Wii came out, so how are the Wii releases alienating Nintendo's core audience? I can agree that some Wii developers (especially 3rd party) over saturated the motion concept and/or didn't implement it properly, and abandoned the Wii altogether. But it was a new innovation that no one dared to try before. I don't understand what was wrong with Nintendo trying new innovation and attempting to expand its audience in what I feel was a positive way.
Granted some of Nintendo's franchises are long running. But you said it yourself, the games are so different. I think it's unfair to even remotely compare it to COD, which is a blatant annual re-hash. Even Activision's CEO openly acknowledged that he focuses on IPs that can be consistently exploited (pardon the paraphrase). Nintendo on the other hand tries different things throughout their franchises (let's just pretend that Pokemon doesn't exist at the moment lol).
I do have high hopes for the Wii U too. I'm not entirely sold yet either, but I think that's also because there's still very little that we know about it for now. I'm hoping E3 will change that. But even the little bit that we've seen so far is very creative on Nintendo's part, and I respect that a lot. I can't lie, I'm totally hyped on the idea of being able to play on the tablet controller (no more all night sessions being interrupted by bathroom breaks! lol). There's definitely a lot of potential and I hope Nintendo does it right.
@BludshedX lmao! Poor Kirby, he gets no "hardcore" gamer love just because he doesn't use an M-16 and get re-released every year. fanboyism really is pathetic. This elitist feeling they try to give themselves by saying "I'm awesome because I have this system with COD part 82 and yours sucks!" is so pointless. I don't understand how someone can call themselves a gamer and want a system to fail. I want Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft to push the limits and keep trying to make systems that are fun, unique, and innovative. And I'm no less "hardcore" because I love Zelda or Mario just as much as I love something like Gears of War.
