The authentication "key" is linked to your WOW account. You can install it on as many computers as you want.

Alan Wake is one of the more unique games of this gen for cosnoles, despite it not being made from the grounf up for PC, its still a very good game. If peopel are goign to skip it because the devs decided to go a more linear route and put it on xbox first then so be it, your missing out a good game.

kozzy1234

I've totally lost you here, what do you mean by "not being made from the ground up for PC"? Are you even aware of the history of this game? This game was made from the ground up for the PC. Remember the quad core tech demo back in 06 that caused all the hype?

Are people going to pull this same BS if Rockstar puts the new GTA on PC late again? or if they decide to finally port Red Dead Redemption to PC?

Yes RDR and Alan Wake did not get made on PC, does not make them bad games or the devs anti pc?

Should be glad a good game like Alan Wake is coming to PC

kozzy1234

Again in this second part I really don't understand what your point is??? Why would PC gamers complain if RDR came to PC. If RDR came to PC I'd be the first one to pre-order it. I hear it's an awesome game. I WISH THEY WOULD BRING IT TO PC!!!

I'm sure myself or someone else would repond to your comments but they don't make much sense. I'm not sure you really understand why PC Gamers are even upset in the first place.

Its an awesome game, if you are holding grudges you are missing out on one of the best console games this gen.

Open world does nto always mean better, look at Dead Island, thats a multiplat and while fun it leaves alot to be desired with its story and characters (something Alan Wake does very well. Yes its linear a bit but that actually works very well for this game, if it was open ended I dont see the story being as good as it was.

Here is an idea... instead of holding childish grudges about a game youve never played, TRY IT FIRST! You might actually really enjoy it.

I love pc gaming as much as anyone on here, but it really does crack me up that peopel would go on missing a fantastic game because it was made on cosnole first.

This has nothing to do with holding childish grudges. Back in 2009 we pc gamers who loyaly followed this game were told that the preferable way to enjoy Alan Wake was on a couch and using an xbox 360. I've seen nothing from Remedy telling me what they have changed in Alan Wake so that it can be enjoyed at a desk in front of a computer.

All they need to do is swallow their pride a bit and clear up what was said in 2009, pretty sure many of us would be interested. Till I see that happen I'm going to take tham at their word that this game was meant to be enjoyed on an xbox.

Looks like I was wrong, they are really going to port this to PC on Steam. I do have 2 questions that I think Remedy should answer:

1.) What are they changing in Alan Wake to make it so that a couch is not the preferable way to enjoy it?

2.) Will this be a DX9 xbox to PC port or is actual effort going to put into this? Any code for Alan Wake that was purely PC is running on 3 year old specs now.

Common sense tells me that AW didn't sell like they thought it would on xbox. There's no way they have the funds and resources to really make this a decent port. Watch as this turns out to be a DX9 port with little more than the UI getting overhauled, to boot they'll want $39.99 for it on steam.

I can't speak for other PC Gamers that did follow this years ago but there's no way I'll even consider this unless I see some serious humble pie from Remedy.

I know this is an easy decision for you guys that played this on xbox and loved it, but you need to consider what it was like for us who were fans of this game and then to have it pulled from us, and it a very 'rude' manner as well. Something tells me xbox owners wouldn't be quite as forgiving if the roles were reversed here.

Sorry but I'm not buying the 'it's microsoft's fault' line of reasoning. A quick check around the net shows I'm not alone in this.

I can't back any of this up but for the record here's what I think is really going on. Remedy used PC gamers to spread the word about Alan Wake then at the last possible second said sorry but we're going xbox only. Alan Wake didn't sell anywhere near like they thought it would.

Years later they finally get around to doing more Alan Wake and the reception is quite cold. So somebody at Remedy says "hey lets use those PC Gamer chumps again and get some free publicity so they come up with this little scheme to try and promote Alan Wake". And hey, look we're talking about Alan Wake on the PC forums.

Regardless of what they do I feel they burned their bridges years ago, don't come crawling back to the PC crowd now, we're not interested.

(Many PC gamers would probably have loved a port of this game, the thing you need to remember is that PC gamers we're teased with this game for years, remember all the hype when they showed the game on a quad-core? I'm sure there is probably some people who are new to PC Gaming and don't remember any of this from years ago, I'm fairly certain that alot of us though feel betrayed by Remedy and I wouldn't play Alan Wake now even if somebody gifted it to me on Steam)

Some of you have real short memories. Does nobody remember how these guys insulted PC Gamers? with comments like our game is just better suited to a console than a PC. Does nobody remember how they demoed this game for years on the PC and strung us along.

No thanks, go ahead and release it on PC, don't care. Besides unless they are pricing it at 9.99 who in their right mind would buy it considering how old this game is.

Anyways, I seem to be one of the only ones around here who remember how these guys treated us PC gamers. No way they are getting any of my money.

This is a great thread. Lots of people who are pretty good at pretending that they have a clue. There's a little tiny bit of truth in what was said about the PS2, but the rest is sheer nonsense. If a developer decides to only include DX9 support for their game there really isn't that big of a difference between the XBOX and PC versions.

I had never heard of Gamersgate until this post. I was intruiged by their blue coins reward program. You even get coins for doing things like writing a review or rating a game. However, what killed it for me was the last line on the reward page that says coins expire in 12 months.

Honestly I wouldn't turn this into an either/or situation for yourself. Both NWN2+expansions and DAO are worthly of playing. If you want to do it on the cheap then play NWN2 first (get the gold edtion and find the SOZ expansion cheap somewhere, you can also get the MOW adventure pack for $5 from the Atari website if you buy it before Christmas). By the time you get done playing the OC -> MoTB -> SOZ -> MOW, Dragon Age will be at a discounted price.
