@fykys80: It's still more of a disadvantage to have to endure something like that with scoliosis caused by elephantine breasts . Why have any physical disadvantage at all?

@fykys80: The funny thing is that it looks like they've only reduced the sexuality by roughly 30 to 40 percent. The compromise is still in favor of the typical male fan who wants archaic female characters in a fighting game. Not to mention that they already compromised more by admitting that more risque outfits will be made available later on as DLC. Most of you aren't even giving the game a chance and bashing it because of 15 screenshots and a gameplay video. They should honestly replace it with another standout quality that distinguishes it from other fighting games that isn't such an easy strategy for them to make money. In my opinion, one thing they've always done right was their counter system and their characters' different body types effecting each characters' overall strength, agility, and signature combo style / movements. They should give the characters more of a background and more depth while maintaining an underlying theme of modest sexuality. They've already tried doing this to a minor degree but not enough to set the series apart from their competitors. I think this is entirely possible with characters like Kasumi, Ayane, and Helena already having backstories.

@fykys80: Everyone here is a social crybaby (it works both ways) and the DOA creators don't really understand much at all. My point is that shoving independently jiggling breasts down the consumers throat is a pathetic attempt to create revenue regardless of what year it is, how formerly successful the game series was, or how closely you examine it. The DOA creators are really just terrible at achieving profit and this article and its reaction from their fans proves my point rather easily. The very second they decide to tone down the sexuality and Neolithic body types (and not take it away entirely), everyone who supported this franchise is condemning it as an immediate consequence. The DOA creators just make broad-based assumptions about their male fan-base not being able to think with their minds rather than their little friends and refrain from buying a fighting game with dramatically disproportionate, inhumane female characters with extremely accentuated gender dimorphism. Neither they or their fan-base are loyal to each other in this relationship. It's not much of a gamble on their end but they're essentially just placing a small bet on stereotypical male behavior causing their game to be purchased sufficiently. Nevertheless, their strategy doesn't even always work such as in the case of Dead or Alive Xtreme Volleyball 2 not even selling as well as the first one despite the female characters breasts being more emphasized and enhanced than they were before because of the Xbox 360's hardware capabilities. Female breasts which are designed so colossal in size that they bounce independently even after the character is finished moving and they can't even sell over 300,000 units.

@Yams1980: Uhh, if that's all it ever had going for it than it was never more than a borderline-worthless average fighting game to begin with. I still guess the programmers had to be relatively skilled to make the physics respond so perfectly like that. The breast bouncing / jiggling had to be calibrated with painstaking attention.

@Redsyrup: It's all about money. They're basically hoping that 3rd wave feminism will outsell the former jiggling breasts.

@Pupchu: Well, I guess in 2003 and still in 2018 that society unfortunately will still buy into gimmicks like that. I actually think female empowerment is generally stupid and done with complete overkill (Cough! Special K) but the type of breasts they portray on some of the females in DOA are inhumane and could likely cause scoliosis.

@Redsyrup: Yeah, I understand why it's there but what do graphics / visual appeal have to do with gameplay mechanics in a fighting game? Unless I misunderstood, I always thought the two weren't directly related.

@Redsyrup: That's valid but how are characters breast sizes and sex appeal directly linked to gameplay mechanics, even in DOA? In real life, they could become an impediment if they were as large as they've been portrayed in DOA games but in DOA, unless I'm missing something here, it's basically just been a cosmetic thing.

In my opinion, both the male and female characters should be fully and equally clothed. I'm not saying that I agree completely with what I'm seeing here. And actually, for the record, partial male nudity or anything remotely male does nothing for me. I just don't like females made out to look like barbaric, pronounced, distinct, Neanderthals.

And I actually liked the cinematic direction they took in Resi 6. If they remained with the original frustrating control scheme forever, I think the series would have been dead by now.

You guys are all kidding me right? Exactly how massive do girl's chests need to be for most of you? Are you all bare-bone fundamentalists and barbarians from the Neolithic age? Kasumi's new breast size still looks relatively large by most physical and cultural standards and you are all complaining and having temper tantrums about something which should be viewed as insignificant for a fighting game, as flamboyant as DOA is or not. I think that Team Ninja should put a male character who suffers from severe gynecomastia in the game just to royally mess with all of you neanderthals out there degrading women and sticking digital fake cash in Christie's thong.

@healthreg3n: It's fairly obvious that they sexualize the male characters almost as much as they do with the female ones. A lot of the males have an ideal level of androgyny and could pass for models. Despite this, it's not exactly as you're describing it for the males. They never emphasized any secondary sex characteristics in the males like they did with the females. The male body types are also more variable. Compare Bayman, Ein, and Eliot and it's like night and day. Compare Christie, Ayane, and Mariposa and they are designed much more similar. As far as I can tell, the males never had massive bulges and outlines showing in their crotch area among other things they could showcase about the adult male body. Although enlarged breasts aren't entirely exclusive to adult females (there's males who suffer from gynecomastia), DOA always put it at the forefront of the action scenes while keeping the male sexuality in the background. I'm straight and I don't care a lot about male sexuality (it does nothing for me) but I'm not going to deny a rock solid fact about this series. Basically, genitals and breast sizes which are that massive can be considered a deformity and cause problems with functioning. Professional fighters need to function.
