I'm wondering if anyone can fill in some blanks for me. I'm interested in picking up a PS3, and have been for some time. The main thing holding me back is a wealth of PC titles recently, and not enough to pique my interest on the platform game-wise yet. But it does seem like this holiday season is providing some reasons to rethink that- notwithstanding this 40gb release!

My question for you tech-savvy guys in the know: what exactly would one need the additional 2 USB slots for? Does each wifi controller use 1 usb slot? And why would anyone need a MM card reader when they have USB slots? Can't everything I need to put on the PS3 be done through my 8gb thumb drive?

Also, as I understand it, the HDD can be boosted if needs be at any pc hardware store (how does this work exactly- what does it plug into, is it easily done? Can you use an external HD?)...so why would an additional 20gb on the console itself mean anything to me when I have a 200gb HDD readily available?

Just trying to justify why anyone would even consider buying the 60gb version now. Particularly in Australia, where the price hasn't moved an inch despite our amazing dollar...heck we're almost equal the USD atm.
